We are looking for a Manager of Software Engineeringwho can quickly integrate into our ongoing organization and make meaningful contributions from day one across the many ongoing projects. Responsibilities:

  • Manage mentor and grow a strong team of software engineers. Conduct performance reviews and support career development.

  • Plan and oversee software development projects ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.

  • Provide architectural direction conduct code reviews and enforce best practices in software engineering while promoting a culture of continuous learning.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects designers testers and other stakeholders to align software engineering efforts with business objectives and deliver scalable efficient and robust solutions.

  • Drive the continuous improvement of development processes and practices to enhance productivity and software quality.

  • Participate in recruitment and onboarding of new engineering talent to continue growing and reinforcing the Software Engineering team.

  • Contribute to long-term technology strategy and roadmap development.

  • Design and develop high-quality Java applications that meet business needs and technical requirements.

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of proven experience in Java development with 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong communication organizational and leadership skills.

  • Proficient in English both written and spoken.

  • Proficiency in using task tracking and project management tools (e.g. Jira Trello).

  • Proficiency in Git for version control with a strong understanding of branching merging and collaborative workflows

  • Strong expertise in object-oriented design principles and design patterns.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities with a knack for troubleshooting and debugging complex issues.

  • Hands-on experience with the Spring framework (Spring Boot Spring Security) and its various components

  • Extensive experience with relational databases (SQL Oracle Postgres) including performance tuning and optimization

  • Experience in developing and consuming RESTful APIs integrating with third-party services.

  • Familiarity with troubleshooting and debugging deployed applications in production environments.

  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Shell scripting Python) for automation tasks and process improvement.

  • Comfortable working with Linux/Unix environments and shell commands.

  • Knowledge of messaging systems (e.g. Kafka ApacheMQ) is a plus.

  • Experience with stream processing or reactive programming is a plus.

  • Fluency in both English and Spanish
  • Ability to work in hybrid in Madrid.
