Job Duties
To provide direct support for the Virgina Parole Board by conducting parole interviews in
accordance with the Board procedures and processes; assess inmates suitability for parole; conduct parole violation hearings for parole violators; and provide recommendation to the Parole Board. Position will prepare concise written notes and findings for the parole interview and parole violation hearing respectfully. This
position will also serve as back-up to the Chief Parole Hearing Examiner and Docketing Clerk when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience within the criminal justice system Virginia corrections systems or probation and parole procedures. Experience with due process procedures and experience conducting a hearing in accordance with due process and DOC and VPB procedures. Experience working with staff to solve problems and arrange schedules. Ability to work and act independently to carry out assigned tasks and workloads. Ability to communicate verbally with a wide range of individuals ranging from DOC correctional staff board members inmates legal representatives and family members.
Additional Considerations
Extensive work experience as a probation and parole officer hearings officer or law enforcement officer.
