An exciting opportunity has arisen for several posts across all localities within the City of Edinburgh Councils Household Support team.
A service with a broad and varied remit Household Support takes an innovative approach to responding to and preventing anti-social behaviour and wider societal issues including homelessness poverty access to education and community support utilising a No Wrong Door approach.
At its heart Household Support is a preventative and early intervention service which seeks to address the root causes of anti-social behaviour and family breakdown by offering a range of holistic supports including housing support family support and mediation as we contribute to preventing homelessness.
You will work closely with individuals families groups communities and partners to promote a restorative approach to neighbour disputes social inclusion and community involvement.
You will work systemically with individuals families and communities to understand and promote positive change and promote the safeguarding and wellbeing of children families individuals and communities.
Offering a person-centred outcome focused intervention to all age groups including vulnerable adult clients as well as families who may have children of a pre-school age part of the household you will draw on the principles of Getting It Right for Everyone in undertaking assessments and develop SMART action plans to support people to achieve positive outcomes maintain tenancies tackle inequality isolation and poverty.
As such this post is suitable for candidates who have an interest and experience in promoting resilience in communities by supporting vulnerable people whose issues may range from experiencing or causing anti-social behaviour are at risk of homelessness struggling with parenting skills or are in financial hardship.
You are also expected to have an SVQ level 3 in Social Services and Healthcare (SCQF 7) or be willing to work towards gaining this qualification to fully meet SSSC registration requirements. On job training will be provided as we value continuous professional develop so a commitment to your on-going learning and development is expected.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. Anunconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
