Job Summary
PROJECT ACCOUNTANT
M.T. Laney Co. Inc. is a premier paving & construction site contractor with established years of experience. As our company expands were seeking a motivated and experienced Project Accountant to join our team.
This role is ideal for a professional with a background in accounting contract administration and project coordinationparticularly within the construction industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage project cost accounting from contract setup job cost cycle progress billing and financial report through compliance and closing of the project
- Prepare review and submit AIA progress payments and ensure billing compliance with contract terms
- Lead the preparation and analysis of monthly Work in Progress (WIP) reports providing insights on project profitability and financial health
- Partner closely with project managers estimators and finance to ensure accurate cost reporting on construction projects.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with project-related audits including workers compensation and regulatory filings
- Review subcontractor invoices payments and lien waivers to ensure proper documentation and timely processing
- Develop and maintain project accounting procedures improving efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting
- Familiarity with construction contracts job costing WIP reporting and AIA progress billings
- Experience with construction accounting including job costing and familiarity with construction accounting practices and terminology
- Detail-oriented and comfortable with the details and intricacies of construction accounting and contracts thorough and focused on the details
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Outlook Word and Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work with constant interruptions
- Ability to prioritize given tasks and work efficiently towards completing them
- Detail-oriented and exceptional organizational skills
- Must have confidence in collaborating with Operations and Finance to improve financial systems policies processes and controls
- Strong problem solver and analytical thinker
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
SALARY/HOURLY EXEMPTION:
- Full-Time Exempt Position
- Salary based on knowledge experience and education
- Sit for prolonged amounts of time
- Walk bend kneel and twist
- Must be able to communicate effectively (talk and hear)
- Lift and move up to 50 pounds on occasion
- A degree in Accounting Finance or a related field is preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years of accounting experience
- 1 years of construction industry experience is required
