The Opportunity:
TRIO Upward Bound is accepting applications for a Program Coordinator in Moses Lake WA. As the Program Coordinator you will provide academic advising and support for program participants in their pursuit of post-secondary education. TRIO programs are federal educational outreach and student services programs designed to motivate support and cultivate excellence in students from disadvantaged backgrounds. TRIO Programs serve low-income first-generation individuals with disabilities and military veterans for successful entry into retention in and completion of post-secondary education.
As the Program Coordinator you will also provide advice/assistance in high school/college course selections assist with PSE application forms for admissions & financial aid provide information on colleges & financial aid and assist in successful completion of high school. Other duties include but are not limited to event/trip planning and coordinating supervising high school students (may include overnight) collaborating with a team and making sure WSU & school policies are adhered to:
Student Advising
Provides academic advising to program participants.
Advises and counsels current program participants in the selection of appropriate courses and developing post secondary plans.
Provides assistance in preparing for college entrance exams.
Provides assistance in completing post secondary education forms for admissions and financial aid.
Provides information on federal student aid and scholarships and financial planning for post secondary education..
Monitors graduate students progress toward successful high school completion and entry into post-secondary education.
Answers questions forwarded to the program email.
Keeps track of student advising data via sign in sheets and other means and enter into a database.
Coordination of Special Events
Plans and executes trips and events to promote program goals.
Coordinates event/trip planning logistics.
Supervises and leads high school students on trips (may include overnight trips).
Works within a given budget for event/trip planning purposes.
Cultivates additional outreach efforts to promote program services and recruit high school students.
Develops and implements strategies to help increase involvement in the program.
Develops and implements special events and outreach programs during the academic and summer program.
Program Oversight
Oversees day-to-day program operations of the program.
Counsels student leadership team/committees in program operations providing front line leadership; assures students follow WSU & school district procedures practices and policies.
Ensures all guidelines and policies have been adhered to; investigates discrepancies and reports outcomes to the Director.
Assess and evaluate effectiveness of programs and initiatives; prepares reports as needed.
General Support
Provides administrative support for the summer program annual banquet community service projects events & trips.
Prepares correspondence and other documents using Microsoft Office applications CANVA etc.
Other duties as assigned

This is a full-time (100% FTE) permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
This position is an in-person/on-site role located in Moses Lake WA.
Monthly Salary: $3665.00 - $4882.00 Range 41 Steps A - M Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty TRIO Upward Bound OR equivalent education/experience.
Must have or be able to obtain by time of hire a valid drivers license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Willingness and ability to travel overnight and work a flexible schedule including frequent nights and weekends.
On some occasions ability to travel with/transport and supervise students.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual in English & Spanish.
Bachelors Degree & experience working with high school students.
Experience assisting with implementing federal/state student educational or college-readiness programs.
