About us

The York County Sheriffs Office is located in York County South Carolina. We are a continually growing community just 15 minutes south of Charlotte North Carolina. Being perfectly located in the foothills of South Carolina just a couple hours from either the mountains or the beach has brought people here from all over the country to make this their home. As the population of York County grows we at the York County Sheriffs Office Detention Division are looking for people to help us grow with it.The Detention Center is located at the Moss Justice Center and is an 877-bed direct supervision facility that opened in March of 1995. We are charged with holding individuals who have been arrested by various law enforcement agencies in York County and held until they post bond or are ordered released by a court or transferred to a state institution after court sentencing. The Detention Center also houses inmates for the U.S. Marshal Service and Immigration and Customs Enforcement under an agreement that provides compensation to the county. We are committed to the operation of a facility that will meet state standards and for the preservation of basic human rights of the inmate population by the Constitution of the United States of America.

About our opportunity

We invite you to apply to join our team as a full-time exempt Records Management Manager within the York County Sheriffs Office Detention division.The purpose of this position is to supervise the records function ensuring compliance with all applicable authority and the quality and accuracy of all records. This position is currently responsible for managing the entire records function for the detention center and directly supervises 11 civilian staff members.

Projected Salary Range/Pay Grade 114:$49112.89 - $58935.47 per yeardepending on qualifications

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervises directs and evaluates assigned staff processing employee concerns and problems directing work counseling disciplining and completing employee performance appraisals.
  • Coordinates assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
  • Conducts regular audits of entered data scanned documents and expungements. Ensures efficient and effective office operations and accuracy and security of records in accordance with relevant governing authority.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant record retention schedules.
  • Receives reviews and responds to requests for information.
  • Prepares reports that measure productivity and error rates. Conducts training as needed regarding appropriate subject matter.
  • Reviews all the work of subordinates for completeness accuracy and compliance with policies and standards; offer advice and assistance as needed.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

About you

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree.
  • Four (4) years of experience in telecommunications communications criminal justice or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
  • Full Function National Crime Information Center operator Certification Terminal Agency Coordinator or Assistant Terminal Agency Coordinator Certification CPR/First AID AED certification.
  • NOTE: All training will be provided while on the job. The ability to obtain the certifications are required within the first year of employment.
