Description

Jasmax invites Māori and Pasifika architecture students - currently in their second year of bachelors study - to apply for the Te Ara Takitini Guiding Light Mentoring Programme. Rooted in the values of manaakitanga whanaungatanga and ako this programme offers real-world insights hands-on learning and meaningful design-industry connections.

Successful applicants will be matched with experienced mentors attend tailored sessions and gain guidance through the final three years of study. If youre passionate about design proud of your identity and ready to grow your architectural career this is your path forward.

We encourage students to Kia māia (be brave) and just apply.

To apply for the Guiding Light Mentoring Programme you should be:

  • A current Māori or Pasifika student enrolled in a Bachelor of Architecture programme at a New Zealand university
  • Currently in your second year of study (Entering your final year of the bachelors programme in 2026)
  • Passionate about architecture and eager to grow personally and professionally
  • Willing to share your story cultural values and aspirations in a short-written statement
  • Open to mentorship connection and reciprocal learning

Optional but welcome:

  • A CV portfolio or work samples to help us understand your journey

As a Guiding Light Student youll receive:

  • A warm welcome at our studio where you and your whānau are invited to connect share kai and meet the Jasmax team
  • Quarterly mentoring sessions tailored to support your academic journey personal growth and transition into professional practice
  • Ongoing check-ins from our People & Culture team to ensure you feel supported heard and empowered throughout the programme
  • Hands-on learning opportunities across real-world projects and design environments
  • Access to resources readings and support with assessments CVs portfolios and interview preparation
  • A sense of belonging through whanaungatanga manaakitanga and ako: values that guide every step of the journey
