As a Maintenance Repair Person you will be responsible for the on-going maintenance and repair of outdoor seasonal equipment and support equipment maintenance needs at a variety of locations ensuring that all equipment is safe and functional.
What will you do:
Inspect maintain build and repair outdoor recreational equipment. With bike maintenance and management as the main focus of this position. Assist the program team with additional duties such as minimal snow removal and transportation of equipment to designated program areas throughout the city.
Maintain records on equipment inspections perform preventative and reactive maintenance and monitor mechanical systems on an ongoing basis
Mentor staff on how to do field repairs and equipment management.
Assist the Program Coordinator in establishing the annual work plan for the position and identifying system replacements improvements and enhancements
Assist with the setup and take-down of equipment for program use including supporting other branch areas with equipment needs.
Supporting the OAE team by sharing knowledge/expertise helping to troubleshoot on broken equipment
Educating team members on how to do field repairs and ongoing maintenance on-site
Responsible for the asset management of equipment including maintenance documentation inventory control equipment disposal usage tracking and reporting and parts purchases.
Liaise with program supervisors operational and trades staff as well as external contractors and suppliers
Assets: WHMIS Fall Protection Man Lift Training Experience in Ariba Any Fitness equipment specific training Paddle Canada certified NCP cert in archery biking or a related outdoor program activity
Skills Required for Success: Has attended formal classes or clinics on bike repair Class 5 Drivers License (ability to obtain City Driver Permit) Intermediate First Aid Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and seasons Has worked in a bike shop in parts and or repair area Experience or training in the maintenance both preventative and reactive of outdoor recreational equipment Strong customer service and interpersonal skill set Ability to perform manual labour for extended periods of time including lifting and moving equipment up to 100lbs. Knowledge of OH&S legislation Enviso and WHMIS Ability to make purchasing decisions related to equipment parts staying within available parts budget Knowledge of the standard methods materials tools and equipment used in equipment repair specific to outdoor recreation primarily bikes including the ability to use hand and power tools Ability to comprehend and apply equipment manufacturers preventative and maintenance programs including the ability to maintain comprehensive and detailed maintenance records Ability to problem solve and work efficiently and effectively with minimum supervision Ability to demonstrate safe work practices at all times Proficiency in the use of computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Google Applications Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies Embracing a Culture of equity diversity reconciliation and inclusion
Conditions of Employment: Valid Standard First Aid CPR level C and AED certifications are requirements of this position) Valid Alberta Class 5 drivers license (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Drivers permit is a requirement of this position Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
