Job Summary
We are looking for a General Manager to lead and oversee the operations of the Georgian office within the maritime agency sector. This role involves managing day-to-day activities ensuring compliance with local regulations delivering excellent client service and representing the organization in all commercial and operational matters across the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Office Management & Leadership: Oversee daily operations of the Georgian office with a hands-on approach. Supervise and support a small team across operations documentation and customer service. Ensure effective coordination with the head office and other branches.
- Port & Vessel Operations: Manage all port agency services including vessel clearance documentation and communication with port authorities (primarily in Poti). Ensure accurate and timely reporting to shipowners and charterers.
- Client Relations: Serve as the main contact point for both local and international clients. Build strong relationships with ship agents port officials and logistics partners ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Finance & Reporting: Manage the office budget and expenses. Prepare financial and operational reports for the head office. Oversee invoicing accuracy and follow-up on payments.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure agency operations fully comply with Georgian maritime and port regulations. Maintain accurate records and documentation aligned with legal and company standards.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue opportunities to expand the agencys business in Georgia. Represent the company at industry events and local meetings when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Maritime Studies Logistics Business Administration or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in maritime agency or port operations (experience in small team settings is a plus).
- Solid understanding of local port procedures and maritime regulations.
- Strong communication leadership and organizational skills.
- Fluency in English; Russian language skills are a strong advantage.
- Ability to work independently with initiative and accountability.
