About the group youll be part of
This role sits at the heart of the Consumers and Retail Markets team in Ofcoms Networks and Communications Group. The purpose of the Group is to advance a better-connected UK so people and businesses can participate in and benefit from a digital society. The purpose and scope of the role
This is a senior leadership role within the Consumers & Retail Markets team where you will lead and shape Ofcoms supervision activities in the telecoms sector working for the Director of Consumers and Retail Markets.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to build a new unit leveraging the assets of the Group including how best to use our knowledge and intelligence embracing new technology and ways of working to deliver world class supervision in the telecoms sector and help make a difference to consumers of today and of the future.
You will be highly skilled at external engagement and working collaboratively. The role also combines strong analytical skills with experience in team building excellent leadership and judgement skills and a broad understanding of the functioning of markets and consumer regulation.
In addition you will also be expected to contribute to the management of the Consumers & Retail Management wider portfolio and people working closely with other principals in the team as well as being part of the senior leadership of the Networks and Communications group.
Your Key Responsibilities
Responsible for leading supervisory activities using highly developed judgement and collaborative skills.
Build and lead a highly effective supervisory team with strong links to enforcement colleagues.
Influence thinking across the organisation by building strong relationships to bring a balanced perspective.
Advocate the interests of citizens and consumers with external stakeholders including industry and Government.
People management responsibilities helping colleagues to get the most out of their career at Ofcom.
Promote corporate initiatives that make a positive difference to how we work as a group and organisation.
Act as a role model actively demonstrating Ofcoms values of excellence collaboration agility empowerment and respect.
The skills knowledge and experience youll need for success
Proven experience in consumer policy telecoms regulation or digital markets and/or in a regulatory supervisory function.
Scanning Horizons: Strong strategic thinking and programme leadership skills
Harmonising Work: Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and regulatory landscapes
Executing Plans: Ability to form lead and motivate successful project teams to deliver complex programmes and projects.
