JOB SUMMARY
The Associate Director will facilitate strategic efforts for U.S. business growth including M&A activities market and segment analysis political positioning new segment entry and stakeholder management. Additionally the Associate Director will facilitate vital corporate executive reporting activities internal and external strategic stakeholder communications and competitive intelligence functions. This position will build and maintain vital relationships with key stakeholders across American Rheinmetall entities and the global Rheinmetall Group enterprise as well as with external stakeholders including relevant bank equity and M&A advisory outlets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serve as principal advisor to the ARD CEO and senior leaders across the American Rheinmetall Defense enterprise on corporate strategic activities including M&A capture market analysis competitive intelligence political activities and strategic communications both internal and external.
Oversee M&A screening and evaluation activities both proactive and reactive for targets in the US providing critical analysis and recommendations.
Identify evaluate and analyze market trends and potential opportunities in the military services and adjacent US government and commercial markets for the business development team to pursue.
Conduct market landscape assessments to guide business development strategy and enable successful new business capture.
Monitor and track competitor activities and product developments in support of competitive intelligence activities in the US market.
Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to assist in building business cases and prioritizing new opportunities for growth.
Build priority strategic and business cases in emerging growth portfolios including by leveraging M&A and partnerships.
Organize and facilitate strategy process improvement and change management workshops in key operational and functional areas.
Manage key corporate reporting and planning activities.
Enable political and marketing efforts by preparing and supporting congressional and Pentagon engagements as well as DC-area think-tank association and industry day events.
Develop and deliver tools and recommendations that support management decisions.
Serve in a critical hands on role as part of a dynamic team ensuring that viable timely winning proposals are delivered.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position may supervise a Strategy Analyst to fulfill corporate strategy and business development goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelors degree in Business Finance International Affairs or related field
Experience
5 years of experience managing corporate strategic and business development projects in support of senior business executives and decision makers including the use of recognized frameworks and tool sets
5 years of experience in direct support of or in engaging with the Department of Defense (DOD) Armed Services Congress and related organizations for business development purposes
5 years of working effectively in teams and across business organizations as well as with significant independence and entrepreneurial spirit
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience training and/or testing)
Mastery of strategic and business case formulation and presentation using industry standard data analysis and visualization tools
Ability to defend strategic assumptions and analysis through critical reviews and debate
Advanced skills in MS Excel PowerPoint and Power BI and/or Tableau
Ability to work efficiently and rapidly with the ability to change direction to meet quick turn-around deliverables
Ability to showcase clear effective and organized written communication
Experience working effectively in teams and across business organizations as well as with significant independence and entrepreneurial spirit
Analytically minded with strong ability in problem solving and critical thinking
Background Prerequisites
Must undergo and meet company standards for background check employment verification reference checks and controlled substance testing.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced degree in Business Finance International Affairs or related field
Expert knowledge of the defense industry and DOD budgets
Experience in M&A strategy deal sourcing target analysis valuation and due diligence
Experience with defense industry software including DACIS GovTribe and AlphaSense
Experience as a Manager in the defense industry
