Young Futures Outreach Support Officer (Part Time)
Location:Endurance HouseHiston CambridgeCB24 9ZR
Permanent/part-time position 25 hours per week to be worked Wednesday and Thursday 09:00 17:30 and Friday 09.00 am to 17:00.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join CHS as a Support Officer in our Young Futures Support Service Team covering several shared houses across Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire.
What youll do
In this varied and interesting role you will provide support and guidance for young people aged 16-25 who would otherwise be homeless. You will assist them to identify and meet their personal goals in areas such as independent living skills coping strategies tenancy sustainment obtaining/maintaining employment education or training and maintaining their physical and mental wellbeing. You will work closely with other agencies to provide comprehensive practical and emotional support. You will be responsive and proactive in meeting the needs of young people meeting them in their homes and in the community. You will also contribute to the delivery of housing management and implement health and safety procedures.
About you
- Able to work creatively to meet the needs of a diverse range of young people.
- Experience advising and supporting young people.
- Able to maintain firm boundaries whilst also working flexibly to meet individual needs.
- Good communication skills verbal written and listening.
- Strong IT and office skills and the ability to maintain office records and write short reports.
- Able to work without close supervision and to make own decisions and prioritise tasks when necessary.
- Able to manage challenging situations when alone.
- A full UK driving licence and use of a car for work purposes is essential.
