About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Technician/Scheduler to join our Highway Control team at Leicestershire County Council.

The Senior Technician/ Scheduler role is mainly focused on supporting the delivery of the Councils External Patching Programme. The main duties of this role will involve:
Liaising with colleagues in the patching team network management team external contractors and neighbouring highway authorities
Updating and ensuring the external patching programme is up to date with relevant up to date information
Ensuring essential information required for works is obtained
Applying for permits
Mentoring and supporting technician staff within the control room
Supporting other control room functions including covering where required for the technician role and being involved in handling severe weather events

The nature of the work may involve you carrying out work outside of normal working hours and at different locations than your designated base.

About You

To apply for this post you must have:

  • NVQ3 or equivalent i.e. BTEC in Civil Engineering or A-Levels A-C in relevant subjects OR have extensive demonstrable experience as identified below together with a commitment to attain the essential qualifications AND evidence of continued learning and development.
  • Experience of accurately capturing storing and retrieving information to meet customer and organisational needs.
  • Experience of engagement with customers including attending and producing materials for meetings and exhibitions and of responding effectively to customer and service centre enquiries.
  • Knowledge of current legislation policies and procedures; Highways Act NRSWA Traffic Management Act Traffic Regulation Act CDM etc.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work. Also good IT skills including the ability to learn the use of service specific systems and software.
  • The skills to build positive relationships across stakeholders peers and partners creating open and transparent relationships based on trust. You have analytical and creative thinking skills and you can work to tight timescales and to agreed targets.

You must also have an understanding of and commitment toequality diversity and inclusion.

In addition we also expect you to shareour commitment to our valuesand will ask you to evidence when you have demonstrated them as part of the selection process.
