Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate to join the Sequencing Methods Research Team as a Research Scientist to unlock transformative improvements in our molecular sensing capabilities.

Oxford Nanopores sequencing platform is the only technology that offers real-time analysis (for rapid insights) in fully scalable formats from pocket to population scale that can analyse native DNA or RNA and sequence any length of fragment to achieve short to ultra-long read lengths.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to join our Sequencing Methods Research team. This exciting and stimulating role involves developing novel methods to deliver target analytes to our nanopore sensors and to control their movement through the nanopore to unleash the full potential of our unique platform.
The details
- Generate DNA analytes and perform sequencing library preparation
- Perform electrophysiology experiments on our sequencing devices to evaluate novel sequencing chemistry components
- Analyse rich datasets using the command-line interface and custom scripts
- Write clear reports and conclusions and present updates at larger group meetings
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams from synthetic chemistry to platform engineering to develop next-generation analyte delivery technologies
What we are looking for...
Essential
- A BSc or Masters in Life Sciences or a related field
- Proven ability to execute molecular biology techniques to a high standard
- Excellent reporting communication and teamwork skills
- Solid understanding of protein and DNA structures
- Basic knowledge of the principles of nanopore sequencing
Desirable
- Strong data analysis skills
- A creative approach to solving challenging technical challenges
