About the opportunity
We are seeking to appoint a Research Officer (Rare Diseases) at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research (Menzies) University of Tasmania.
The Menzies Institute for Medical Research (Menzies) at the University of Tasmania is one of Australias leading health and medical research institutes. Menzies exists to improve human health and wellbeing by performing excellent basic clinical and population health research that focuses on the major diseases affecting the Tasmanian community. Taking a disease prevention approach our research is aimed at improving patient care and clinical outcomes for the community by translating knowledge and clinical actions.
Research at Menzies is structured around research themes flagships and research platforms.
What youll do:
- Provide research-related administration including ethics approvals annual reports governance submissions and protocols.
- Assist with the development of data collection instruments (surveys interview schedules etc) data collection protocols and data capture systems (eg: REDCap).
- Assist in collecting inputting and maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient data in research databases ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Ensure data accuracy adherence to ethical guidelines and compliance with research protocols through regular quality checks and documentation updates.
- Understand and adhere to relevant legislation policies and procedures including the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and UTAS Framework for the Responsible Conduct of Research.
What were looking for:
- A degree level qualification in a relevant field such as health science nursing allied health or medicine.
- Experience supporting the implementation of community or hospital-based research projects.
- Ability to meet deadlines and deliver milestones in a timely manner and demonstrated ability to perform tasks with a high degree of attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders including funding bodies and members of the rare disease community.
- Experience supporting ethics applications writing protocols and community and stakeholder engagement and experience in operation of data capture systems (e.g. REDCap).
- Experience in analysing data and contributing to write up of findings through reports or other dissemination outputs (e.g. academic manuscripts presentations infographics).
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 5 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $105665 pro rata comprising base salary within the range of $80869 to $90312 pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
