Special Educator for the TLP (Therapeutic Learning Program)
The TLP program is a special education program designed to provide supports and services to students with social-emotional and behavioral disabilities. Supports are provided in both a substantial separate setting and in the general education classroom. The role and responsibilities of the special education teacher of TLP is:
- Establish and maintain a safe learning environment which supports students in developing and applying the knowledge and skills necessary to function successfully in the school setting
- Provide direct instruction in social skills and emotional regulation skills based on student goal areas
- Plan and implement academic instruction at a variety of instructional levels utilizing grade level materials and modified curriculum
- Support student participation in meaningful integration opportunities
- Lead a collaborative team of support staff
- Consult with a variety of related service providers including: program clinician school adjustment counselor school psychologist speech and language teacher and occupational therapist
- Work with parents/guardians and outside community agencies to provide collaborative services
- Perform the duties of special education teacher including: acting as a liaison academic testing writing IEPs and progress reports and attending team meetings

The TLP program is a special education program designed to provide supports and services to students with social-emotional and behavioral disabilities.
