The IP Director is prepared with inpatient and outpatient clinical operations experience focused on programmatic growth strategy financial accountability and optimization of care delivery design. This is a strategic leader utilizing data analysis/synthesis to drive service line growth and initiatives; coordinating key stakeholders between Interventional Pulmonary Internal Medicine ENT/OHNS Thoracic Surgery and Oncology. The IP Director uses evidence-based practices and technology to ensure a culture of continuous improvement leaning on standardized performance improvement tools. The IP Director collaborates with the ambulatory leadership team and the health system stakeholders communicating regularly with USC care medical group leadership and the applicable department administrators division chiefs and department chairs.
Essential Duties:
- Strategy: Directs all aspects of the service lines interest by engaging with key stakeholders providing data for review and ensures data driven decision making. Ensures that growth in volume and expansion of services are accomplished by integrating departments across the health system. Develops strategies that aligns with both short-term and long-term organizational goals. Works closely with senior leadership teams department heads and other stakeholders to drive strategy alignment and execute cross-functional initiatives.
- Financial Responsibility: Develops and monitors the operational budget each year continually analyzing both positive and negative variances and using the budget as a tool to find more effective methods of care delivery. Works with all major stakeholders to formulate site specific budgets in accordance with organizational yearly goals and priorities. Reviews authorizes and monitors expenses; prepares and submits exceptions on a timely basis. Develops content to present strategic acquisitions for capital new sites and any relevant expansion related to the service line or its interests.
- Leadership: Promotes effective communication and collaborative working relationships amongst the service line physicians and department staff. Ensures open lines of communication amongst the staff physicians and other departments. Serves as a coach and mentor as needed. Responsible for identifying and implementing cross-training ideas and changes in staff design and task distribution which promotes a more effective method of service delivery ensuring that the care is safe legal and is customer service oriented. Facilitates the training of staff and physicians and assures we optimize the use of software platforms and digital technologies when available and appropriate.
- Growth: Responsible for growth activities for the service line including hospital collaborations physician outreach continuing medical education programs and community outreach as needed. Develops goals that reflect the best interest of the service line and the organization as a whole. Oversees existing and potential joint ventures or partnerships within the service line and other teams. Ensures the implementation of strategic business plans that aligns with the service lines vision strategic plans and goals. Provides quarterly progress reports to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Patient Experience and Service: Contributes to the development of customer service standards and expectations. Establishes methods for monitoring employee patient and physician satisfaction with the services provided within the departments employee groups and the patients we serve. Monitors performance and implements initiatives to ensure top decile performance across Press Ganey/HCCAPS survey metrics

Required Qualifications:
- Req Masters degree Degree in a related technical field.
- Req 5 years Minimum of five years as a Clinical Operational Leader in a healthcare facility preferably in an academic setting.
- Req 3 years Minimum of three year experience in strategic planning and program development.
- Req 3 years Minimum of three years experience in contract negotiations performance and quality improvement.
- Req Professional mannerisms appearance and executive presence.
- Req Expert knowledge of relevant state and federal healthcare regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pref 3-5 years 3-5 years of Interventional Pulmonary procedural management.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Req Respiratory Care Practitioner - RCP (CA DCA) Active California RCP license.
- Req Registered Respiratory Therapist - RRT (NBRC) Active National Board for Respiratory Care RRT Credential.
- Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only).
The annual base salary range for this position is $133120.00 - $219648.00.
