Job Duties
Hanover General District Court is seeking a career-minded team player to join our Staff. The Deputy Clerk (Grade 8) is assigned operational responsibilities in a fast paced high-volume office with multi-tasking and frequent deadlines. Ensures courts instructions are executed and legal documents are prepared with accuracy and in accordance with the state and local policies and procedures. Must be committed to responding to customers with a friendly courteous and positive can-do attitude and a desire to work in a team environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities -Duties include handling a wide range of complex clerical and financial tasks to include: assessing fines & court costs accurately calculate and receipt fines costs and filing fees process court documents scanning all case documents large volume of accurate data entry and alpha/numeric filing assisting the public at the public counter answering the telephone and taking payments over the phone. Experience with Microsoft applications Windows 10-11 and Office 365 a plus. Must be able to multitask and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management. Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Successful applicants will bring substantial experience in court business or office-related environments with previous court experience considered highly desirable. Candidates should be exceptionally organized and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Advanced proficiency in office automation systems and computer software is essential. Excellent customer service abilities are expected and prior experience handling cash in a retail setting is preferred. The role may involve standing at a public counter or filing for extended periodsup to eight hours per dayand applicants must be physically capable of bending and lifting to retrieve files as needed.
