Position: APS6 Training Specialist
Organisation: Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
Location: Canberra ACT
Start date: As soon as possible
Duration: Approx. 12-month contract with potential to extend
Pay rate: $63.40 - $71.29 per hour plus 12% superannuation
Security requirements: Candidates must hold an NV1 clearance at time of application
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists to join a dynamic team within a Federal Government department. As a Training Specialist you will play a key role in developing and delivering the departments security training suite strengthening security capability and culture across the organisation.
This role involves engaging with internal and external stakeholders to ensure staff are equipped with the knowledge and tools to identify mitigate and manage security threats and risks effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging presentations and facilitate training for staff and partner agencies.
Develop innovative inclusive and culturally sensitive learning solutions including associated instructional materials.
Analyse and review training curricula to ensure alignment with organisational objectives.
Identify security training and capability gaps and assist in developing strategies to address them.
Review and update training content to reflect emerging security risks adult learning principles and diverse workforce needs.
Collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders across government to refine training needs.
Contribute to eLearning development and other training delivery platforms.
Perform other ad hoc duties as required.
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
Demonstrated experience in government training development delivery and coordination.
Strong communication skills with experience across traditional and innovative training platforms (face-to-face virtual eLearning blended).
Familiarity with training development software (advantageous).
Understanding of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)
Knowledge of security threats and risk management.
Excellent management coordination and interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach.
Proven ability to develop innovative approaches to training and engage confidently with stakeholders.
