Monday- Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Valid Ohio drivers license and proof of auto insurance is required by hospital policy. Must pass a motor vehicle background inspection insurance eligibility driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Childrens Hospital and must maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.


Job Description Summary:


Collaborates with service line and unit leadership to develop implement and coordinate effective systems to evaluate and improve patient outcomes and quality of care. Provides leadership in the areas of quality improvement and supports the mission of Nationwide Childrens Hospital by leading the performance improvements linked to the strategic plan.


Job Description:


Essential Functions:

  • Collaborates with leadership to design the quality strategy for Service Lines and develops the quality improvement (QI) project portfolio to meet the strategic plan service line goals and compliance standards.
  • Drives department or institution-wide QI projects and national collaboratives utilizing project management and change management tools. Uses knowledge of improvement science and team facilitation to move teams toward reaching their project goals.
  • Uses knowledge of data analysis and statistical process control to turn data into information that teams can use to make decisions affecting patient outcomes. Assists teams in developing and implementing quality metrics.
  • Guides Quality Team Members and clinicians to present and publish quality improvement work.
  • Uses and coaches on the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) framework as the basis for quality improvement work. Provides QI education leadership in the Quality Improvement EssentialsLeadership Academy (QIEQLA) course.
  • Supports leadership in maintaining communication channels and SharePoint applications supporting QI education opportunities and other special projects.
  • Assists managers with onboarding of new employees. Serves as a subject matter expert and assists other employees with technical questions.

Education Requirement:

  • Masters Degree in engineering healthcare or business field or equivalent education and experience required.
  • Completion of IHI Open School Training required.

Certifications:

Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.


Skills:

  • Experience leading coaching and mentoring teams using the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and/or IHI Quality Toolbox.
  • Exceptional interpersonal organizational and emotional intelligence skills for facilitation of meetings presentations relationship building and effective communication to all levels of hospital staff.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and data visualization tools like PowerBI Tableau etc.
  • Expertise in manipulating and analyzing large data sets using pivot tables formulas and graphs/charts. Proficient in making data tell a compelling story to drive practice changes.
  • Highly proficient in statistical process control techniques including QI Macros or other software to create and interpret control charts.
  • Strong critical thinking skills for developing innovative solutions to healthcare challenges and prioritizing work tasks.

Experience:

  • Five years of experience in the quality improvement and/or process improvement fields preferred.
  • Two years of management or project leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with didactic teaching and with coaching or mentoring teams and individuals preferred.
