Job Duties

  • Provide training and coaching on using data to plan monitor and assess school improvement.
  • Support the application monitoring and evaluation process for federal and state identified schools. This includes developing tools resources professional learning experiences protocols and other items associated with school improvement.
  • Guide school and division leaders through the comprehensive needs assessment asset mapping and root cause analysis process.
  • Support establishing structures to assess the return on investment for school improvement initiatives.
  • Establish and lead the continuous improvement process including facilitation of improvement cycles (plan-do-study-act) and strategies related to improvement science and implementation science.
  • Design and facilitate high-quality professional learning experiences informed by data that lead to improving student outcomes.
  • Provide support in the development implementation and monitoring of state accreditation and federal accountability school improvement plans applications programs and budgets.
  • Conduct school visits to review and provide actionable feedback that informs continuous improvement on instructional practices and implementation of school improvement strategies.
  • Engage stakeholders to inform systemic school improvement plans protocols and processes.
  • Support aspiring leaders in preparing for school improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to use data to inform support to schools and school divisions.
Knowledge of effective coaching practices talent management and instructional leadership.
Knowledge of effective practices for improving student outcomes.
Knowledge of effective practices for change management that lead to sustainable systemic improvement.
Knowledge of Virginias educational accountability and assessment system.
Knowledge of Standards of Learning (SOL) High-quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) Virginia Literacy Act seat-time flexibly and other priorities of VDOE designed to maximize opportunities and improve student outcomes.
Knowledge of local state and federal education policies connecting to school improvement including requirements for Title I School Improvement Grants and Memorandum of Understanding School Divisions.
Ability to effectively manage federal and state grants.
Knowledge of effective practices for engaging adult learners.
Ability to work collaboratively across divisions.
Ability to engage with stakeholder groups and use information from stakeholders to inform continuous improvement.
Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrate strong project management and time management skills.
Expertise in data-informed decision making and continuous improvement models.
Knowledge of instructional technology tools and skills and their application for student learning.
Proficiency in the use of applications in the Microsoft Office suite.

Additional Considerations

An advanced degree in education supervision administration curriculum or a related area from an accredited college or university.
