The Night Float Leader provides leadership training continuity and expertise to the group living services night staff and participants during the overnight hours of operation. The Night Float Leader provides leadership and support to the night float team. The Night Float Leader provides over-night support services including; scheduling building and grounds safety checks and assists with the participants. The Night Float Leader is responsible to support the agency staff in systems policy and procedures and notify managers of any performance issues.
Education and Professional Certification
- A certificate diploma or degree in child and youth care or in a related field of study
Experience
- Minimum one (1) year of experience working with children youth and/or adults with behavioral cognitive mental health and/or developmental challenges.
- Experience providing leadership guidance and support in a team environment.
- Experience working night shifts.
Skills and Characteristics

Services
- Provide support to agency staff and report on program functioning during their shift.
- Provide environmental safety checks and upkeep to the units assigned facilities and the grounds.
- Provide care and support to vulnerable persons with complex needs behavioral issues developmental disabilities mental health disorders and/or other related issues.
- Assist with morning routines and activities.
- Assist with established AWOL procedures as required.
- Support the agency priorities for the supervision of various units based on the needs of the participants.
- Respond to crisis situations using behavioral management and support methods including conflict resolution crisis management and life space interviewing.
- Establish and maintain a therapeutic milieu.
- Engage and fully participate with the participants.
- Participate in team meetings and discussions.
- Support the participants needs including: safety treatment medication administration healthcare nutrition chores and hygiene.
- Complete reports and documentation clearly accurately in a timely manner and within agency standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Leadership
- Provide leadership and support to the residential team as directed by the Night Float Manager and Unit Manager On-Call.
- Work with team members to create a positive and productive work environment.
- Display positive role modelling agency values and fairness.
- Collaborate with and communicate to the multidisciplinary team when required.
Management of Resources
- Account for agency approved expenses in accordance to agency standards.
Safety
- Maintain promote and reinforce safe work habits practices and procedures.
- Adhere to written or verbal agency and government regulations policies practices and instructions.
Additional Requirements
The incumbent is responsible for completing all mandatory training requirements for the position as per agency policy and guidelines.
Employees must hold a class five (5) novice two (2) or higher drivers license and be eligible for coverage under our commercial auto insurance policy.
Wage range: $29.37 to $37.96 per hour.
