ATTENTION ALL ALASKA RESIDENTS
Fairbanks International Airport is seeking a dynamic and experienced engineer to serve as an Engineering Assistant 1/2/3. This is a high-impact role is responsible for assisting the airport engineer and providing support in projects vital to the growth and operations at Fairbanks International Airport.
SALARY INFORMATION
Engineering Assistant 1:$33.76 / hourly OT Eligible
Engineering Assistant 2:$38.91 / hourly OT Eligible
Engineering Assistant 3: $44.49 / hourly OT Eligible
What you will be doing:
As an Engineering Assistant I II or III at Fairbanks International Airport you will support the planning design construction and maintenance of airport infrastructure by assisting professional engineers with technical tasks such as preparing drawings performing inspections conducting surveys collecting and analyzing data and reviewing construction documents. Depending on your level responsibilities may range from performing entry-level drafting calculations and fieldwork under close supervision to independently managing assigned project components coordinating with contractors and stakeholders and applying engineering judgment to leading more complex projects providing technical guidance to junior staff and ensuring compliance with FAA state and environmental regulations. Overall the role provides hands-on experience in civil and transportation engineering within a dynamic airport environment.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. It may be filled at the Engineering Assistant 1 Engineering Assistant 2 or Engineering Assistant 3 level depending on the applicants training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at a lower level promotion to the higher level will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.
AIRPORT SECURITY BADGE
Candidates for this position must be eligible for an airport identification badge in accordance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations (49 CFR 1542) which requires fingerprinting and a criminal background check. The successful applicant must pass a fingerprint-based criminal history record check as well as a comprehensive background investigation along with a Transportation Security Administration Security Threat Assessment.
