Job Summary
Job Description The floral clerk or floral designer is a floral products expert who maintains and operates the produce floral department including designing cutting and arranging live dried or artificial flowers gift baskets and foliage according to department standards. Some Job Responsibilities include: Maintaining a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and fellow team members. Trimming material and arranging bouquets wreaths and other items using trimmers shapers wire pins floral tape foam and other materials. Pricing and displaying floral products in sales cases. Actively selling merchandise. Informing customers about the care maintenance and handling of various flowers foliage indoor plants and other items. Advising customers of appropriate merchandise selections conferring with customers regarding type of arrangement or plant desired. Receiving customer orders. Filling customer orders correctly and filing the names of customers and their preferences to facilitate future sales transactions. Conferring with customers regarding price and type of arrangement desired and the date time and place of delivery. Planning arrangements according to clients requirements utilizing knowledge of design and properties of materials and selecting appropriate standard design patterns. Following approved procedures for receiving code dating storing price marking and restocking products to ensure quality accuracy and product rotation. Assisting in checking and verifying produce department product. Taking received and prepared products to refrigerated storage shelf and display areas. Handling damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods. Performs other duties as needed or assigned by management. Must be at least 18 years old. Job Qualification With both customers and team members remain helpful tactful and courteous. Work quickly and efficiently sometimes with little direction to accomplish assigned duties. Add subtract divide multiply and perform other basic business math calculations. Read UPC codes product labels shelf signage business forms and posted company policies/procedures. Be knowledgeable of a wide variety general department products (grocery frozen food HBC non-foods liquor DSD and dairy) including their locations in the store. Memorize product locations. Be dexterous enough with hands and fingers so as to be able to fill and rotate products quickly and use necessary equipment including box cutters. Communicate openly and professionally through appropriate body language facial expressions and speech also communicating in writing when necessary. Listen to and understand verbal and non-verbal communication of customers and fellow members. Stand for long periods of time bend and twist and frequently lift and/or maneuver merchandise and supplies weighing 30 50lbs. Lift 50 and maneuver up to 100 lbs. while breaking down large and very heavy pallet loads of produce cases boxes and bags. Operate manual and electric pallet jacks. Often work in walk-in refrigerated coolers. If called upon night crew clerks may need to learn use of cash registers.
