Job Summary

What Youll Do:

Ohio Department of Public Safety Ohio Narcotics Intelligence Agency

Report In Location: 6000 Lombardo Center Seven Hills Ohio 44131

Work Hours: 8:00AM to 5:00PM

Within assigned Ohio Narcotics Intelligence Center (ONIC) regional office provide program direction & relieve superior of non-routine administrative duties pertaining to the ONIC Outreach & Collaboration program:

  • Plan develop & organize all major aspects activities & initiatives of Outreach & Collaboration program; Plans writes & implements program goals;

  • Act for administrator by independently answering complex &/or confidential inquiries pertaining to the ONIC outreach & collaboration program;

  • Prepare & issue correspondence regarding ONIC policies regulations &/or programs; Coordinate prepare & edit bulletins & briefings; Manage websites & social media accounts;

  • Develop & maintain relationships; Facilitate tips to partner agencies;

  • Formulate & implement program policy (e.g. criminal intelligence reporting & follow-up; research & reporting on trends & anomalies; etc.); Provide technical advice to aid administrator in decision-making regarding ONIC program policies procedures regulations &/or directives.

  • Coordinate & attend outreach conferences & meetings with partners;

  • Assume responsibility & authority in administrators absence;

  • Serve as liaison between administrator & public &/or private partners;

  • Manage regional ONIC evidence database & audits; Schedule & coordinate in-coming &/or outgoing evidence; Oversee forensic intake from customers; Ensure proper evidence handling procedures are followed;

  • Perform public relations duties; Represent ONIC & make presentations in meetings with public officials private agencies &/or the general public; Provide technical assistance to ODPS personnel & other federal state or local government jurisdictions; Research information & prepare correspondence in response to inquiries & complaints;

  • Utilize state owned vehicle to travel & perform work at other ONIC locations &/or to attend meetings conferences etc.;

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

The Ohio Narcotics Intelligence Center (ONIC) is a division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety that operates in four locations across Ohio in Columbus Cleveland Cincinnati and Toledo. The ONIC offices are comprised of criminal intelligence analysts and forensic computer specialists that assist law enforcement agencies and drug task forces by providing investigative and case support and information-sharing networks that bridge traditional law enforcement and criminal justice with stakeholders across industries.

The ONIC leverages cutting edge technologies and analytical techniques to detect identify and intercept dangerous drugs. The ONIC supports investigations including significant cases involving large drug seizures organized crime and drug trafficking organizations drug poisoning deaths firearms trafficking cryptocurrency seizures drug-related violent crimes and online illicit drug markets.

This position requires valid drivers license to operate state owned vehicle or must be able to provide own transportation.

This position is essential meaning the duties this job performs are critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency (OAC 123:& DAS Directive HR-D-11). This position will be required to report for duty during any public safety emergency.

A BCI and FBI fingerprint check a background check including a polygraph examination may be required on all selected applicants.

36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. business administration management science or public administration. If assigned to operate vehicles regulated by Section 4506.01 of Revised Code applicants must also have valid commercial drivers license.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration management science or public administration; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. supervisory administrative &/or managerial position which involved limited research & public contact. If assigned to operate vehicles regulated by Section 4506.01 of Revised Code applicants must also have valid commercial drivers license.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in academic field commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on file; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. supervisory administrative managerial &/or staff position which involved limited research & public contact. If assigned to operate vehicles regulated by Section 4506.01 of Revised Code applicants must also have valid commercial drivers license.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Assigned Program Area: Completion of an undergraduate core program in Intelligence Homeland Security Political Science Criminal Justice Behavioral or Social Science (psychology sociology criminology) Public Safety Business Administration Public Administration Emergency Management Public Health &/or Internal Affairs.
