Job Description



License/Certification/Registration:
*Active Minnesota license
*BC/BE in Pediatrics or related subspecialty American College of Physician Advisors-Certification (ACPA-c) within 3 years of employment

Education:
*Medical degree or considered equivalent (D.O.)

Experience:
*Minimum 3 years board eligibility and active practice

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
*Clinical competency and expertise in caring for hospitalized children
*In-depth knowledge of legal medical guidelines and medicine best practices
*Excellent oral and written communication skills

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. When determining individual pay rates we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role the skills education training credentials and experience of the candidate internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary this position may be eligible for medical dental vision retirement and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.

Department Overview

Proudly serving as Minnesotas childrens hospital since 1924 Childrens Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota is the eighth-largest pediatric health care organization in the U.S. Each year Childrens provides care through nearly 13000 inpatient visits and more than 200000 emergency room and other outpatient visits. An independent not-for-profit health care provider Childrens has 319 staffed hospital beds and services available in all major pediatric specialties: emergency care; newborn and pediatric intensive care; outpatient and inpatient surgery; diagnostic services including radiology and laboratory; and special programs in the areas of respiratory cardiology cancer premature birth adolescent development child abuse and addition to our Minneapolis and St. Paul Campuses Childrens also includes Childrens West a pediatric care center in Minnetonka offering same-day surgery as well as diagnostic rehabilitative and developmental outpatient services; Childrens - Roseville an outpatient pediatric rehabilitation center; and Childrens Clinics - Woodwinds pediatric specialty clinics at the Woodwinds Health Campus in Woodbury.


Position Summary

The Physician Advisor collaborates with Case Managers and Clinicians to align on the level of care patient billing status and potential barriers to patient care transitions. Under the purview of the Medical Director of Utilization Management the Physician Advisor (PA) conducts clinical review of cases to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements hospitals objectives and quality patient care while ensuring effective and efficient utilization of resources. The Physician Advisor guides the team to improve clinical and financial outcomes with documentation and clinical education. The PA will be responsible for second level reviews including peer-to-peer with third party payers.

Location (e.g. remote or on-site): Majority remote. Must be able to meet with colleagues or clinical teams on site as requested.
