An intern in PwCs ITRA (Information Technology Risk Assurance) Digital Audit team typically engages in a variety of tasks that blend traditional auditing with modern technology to assess and assure the integrity and reliability of clients information systems. Heres an overview of some common responsibilities and activities for an intern in this area:

  • IT Controls Testing: Assisting in the evaluation and testing of clients IT systems and controls to ensure compliance with relevant standards and identify any risks or weaknesses.
  • Data Analysis: Utilizing data analytics tools to examine large datasets identify trends or anomalies and provide insights that support the audit process.
  • Cybersecurity Assessment: Supporting the assessment of clients cybersecurity measures to ensure that their information assets are adequately protected against threats.
  • System and Process Documentation: Helping to document and review IT systems and processes ensuring that they are well-documented and align with best practices.
  • Audit Support: Contributing to the planning and execution of IT audits including gathering and analyzing evidence preparing audit documentation and assisting in the preparation of audit reports.
  • Technology Integration: Learning and applying various digital tools and technologies used in modern auditing to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Risk Assessment: Assisting in identifying and assessing IT-related risks and evaluating the effectiveness of clients risk management strategies.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Helping ensure that clients IT systems comply with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Project Collaboration: Working as part of a team on various audit projects learning from experienced IT auditors and contributing to client deliverables.
  • Client Interaction: Depending on the interns development and exposure there may be opportunities to engage with clients under supervision to understand their systems and discuss findings.

Overall an intern in the ITRA Digital Audit team gains exposure to the intersection of IT and audit developing skills in IT risk assessment cybersecurity and data analytics.
