Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Systems Administrator for an onsite position in Aberdeen Proving Ground MD to support the installation configuration maintenance and security of enterprise systems and networks. This role requires a strong background in Unix or Windows system administration TCP/IP networking and information security practices. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for managing servers supporting end-user devices and ensuring system availability reliability and performance across the enterprise.

Job Functions:

Administer configure and maintain Windows and/or Unix servers ensuring secure and reliable operation.
Install upgrade and patch operating systems server applications and system software.
Troubleshoot and resolve system hardware and application issues to minimize downtime and maintain performance.
Manage user accounts authorization profiles and security configurations in accordance with organizational policies.
Provide technical support for end-user devices including laptops desktops and printers.
Configure and test hardware devices operating systems and networking software to support mission requirements.
Monitor system performance server event logs and system configurations to identify and address issues proactively.
Design implement and monitor backup and recovery procedures for servers and enterprise data.
Conduct system testing for operating systems networking software and computer hardware to ensure compatibility and reliability.
Develop and maintain system administration documentation standard operating procedures (SOPs) and configuration baselines.
Support system security and compliance initiatives including patch management and vulnerability remediation.

Job Qualifications:

Requires IAT Level 2 Certification
Minimum of 5 years of experiences within the last 8 years
Proficiency in Windows and/or Unix/Linux system administration.
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking system configuration and event log monitoring.
Experience with server installation upgrades and patch management.
Familiarity with information security practices and access/authorization management.
Knowledge of backup and recovery processes including disaster recovery planning.
Ability to configure test and troubleshoot computer hardware and networked peripherals.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to support both technical staff and end users.

Education/Experience include:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Mathematics or other Engineering or Technical discipline.

Working Conditions:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Use of standard office equipment.
