Controller (CFO Successor Track)
Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 remote) - Santa Ana / Tustin CA
Compensation: $105000 annually with additional growth once promoted to CFO in January
An established nonprofit organization in Santa Ana/Tustin is seeking a Controller to join its leadership team. This is a rare opportunity for a mission-driven finance professional to step into a planned succession track for Chief Financial Officer.
The ideal candidate will bring strong nonprofit accounting experience a track record of financial leadership and the ability to provide strategic insights that drive organizational growth. This role offers hybrid flexibility and the chance to directly partner with a progressive collaborative CEO.
What Youll Do
Manage day-to-day accounting operations (AP/AR general ledger reconciliations).
Oversee audits financial reporting and month/year-end close processes.
Develop monitor and analyze budgets forecasts and projections.
Ensure compliance with GAAP contracts and nonprofit financial guidelines.
Build and improve internal financial controls and procedures.
Supervise and support accounting staff fostering growth and accountability.
Provide financial insights and reporting to senior leadership and the Board.
What Were Looking For
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field (CPA a plus).
5 years of progressive nonprofit accounting experience (blended background acceptable).
Proficiency with QuickBooks (experience transitioning from Sage is a plus).
Strong skills in budgeting forecasting and financial analysis.
Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
DOJ/Livescan clearance required.
Must be able to work onsite 2-3 days per week in Tustin CA.
