Position Summary
Under general supervision this position provides support and review for all ground disturbing projects with the potential to effect cultural resources and historic properties within the Priest Rapids Project and throughout the District. Facilitates compliance with all cultural resource laws and the FERC license governing the handling of cultural resources.
Essential Functions

Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide technical expertise on archaeology historic properties and cultural resources for Grant PUD actions; facilitate or obtain federal state and local permits and approvals for Grant PUD activities potentially impacting historic properties; perform background searches fieldwork and data analysis and general project review ensuring adherence to cultural compliance laws and regulations.
- Research collect and analyze data and prepare reports as required by the Districts Historic Properties Management Plan; facilitate or create reports required by law management stakeholder groups and/or FERC; support work sites and work with district contractors to ensure compliance measures are met; maintain accurate records and foster professionalism and consistency in reporting.
- Participate in the discovery and identity of culturally rich resources and provide support on avoidance and mitigation activities; demonstrate understanding of potential impacts projects will have on cultural resources and recommend proper care to stakeholders in line with the FERC license and other governing agencies.
- Review direct and/or implement various cultural resources contracts with archaeological and geological entities; administer purchase orders review invoices attend meetings with contracted firms and ensure all aspects of the contract are fulfilled; participate in fieldwork and other hands on activities ensuring compliance measures and District goals are met.
- Meet with and discuss projects with cultural resource impact and identify potential issues and mitigation needs; collaborate with local tribes agencies and District staff to ensure compliance and appropriate measures are in place to protect valuable cultural resources and archaeological finds.
- Provide public interaction that draws attention and respectfulness to the Wanapum Tribe and its rich history; demonstrate a keen understanding of cultural management; provide knowledge in multiple facets of archaeology geology and cultural management with professionalism and care.
- In this position if needed to operate a GPUD vehicle for business purposes please refer to the Vehicle/Asset Usage Policy IS-TA-POL-001.

- Reporting any safety incidents or close calls within 24 hours to your supervisor; and
- Accepting feedback from supervisors and coworkers regarding your own safety performance.
Specific Functions:
- Guide and direct student helpers.
- Read and update facilities plans drawings and specifications.
- Update and maintain maintenance management records.
Required Qualifications (Education Experience Licenses & Certifications):
- Bachelors Degree in archeology or cultural resources management or closely related field
- 3 years experience in historic properties or cultural resources management.
Preferred Qualifications (Education Experience Licenses & Certifications):
- Masters Degree in archeology or cultural resources management or closely related field.
- Meet Secretary of the Interior qualification standards for archaeology
- Proficiency in GIS
- Specialization in faunal analysis
Other Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of historic properties and cultural resources management; archaeology and geology; local state and federal law governing cultural resources; inventory control.
- Skill in Historic property and cultural resource management; handling artifacts; geology and associated fields; managing personnel and organizing crews; data records and reporting; interpretation and ability to complete archaeological site forms; communicating with Native American tribes; GIS and AutoCAD software tools and applications.
- Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions learn quickly work independently exercise sound judgment and be self-motivated.
- Skill in the use and repair of construction/maintenance hand and power tools.

- Majority of work is performed in a standard office setting.
- Will perform work onsite at the locations of the assigned Business Units
