The Junior Catastrophe Modeling Analyst will be responsible for analyzing and quantifying Chubbs North America Commercial Insurance exposure to natural catastrophe perils such as Hurricane Earthquake Severe Convective Storm Flood and Wildfires. Such analyses require creating datasets from various data sources performing analyses using multiple models and aggregation tools and communicating results to senior management.

A successful candidate will have the ability to work in a time bound and multiple stakeholder environment. Prioritization of multiple projects concurrently and ability to work both independently as needed while also working as a part of a team in cross-functional projects. The role brings an exciting opportunity to work with other members of the Corporate Catastrophe Solutions team within ERM as well as senior stakeholders from the business including Underwriting Actuarial and Ceded Re.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with quarterly/monthly roll-up of North American Commercial Insurance exposure analyzing and monitoring catastrophe risk via third part catastrophe models internal tools and software.
  • Adhere to corporate data quality standards while working with business units to ensure the highest degree of accuracy in the Cat perils modeled results.
  • Provide insight back to key business stakeholders monitoring aggregation and PML movement over time and provide both detailed highly quantitative reporting as well as high level summaries to the executive level.
  • Coordinate with account modeling team located in Hyderabad with a focus on key initiatives to improve modeling efficiency and review high-impact account modeling results.
  • Provide data modeling results and complete ad-hoc projects as needed from the Ceded Re Actuarial and Finance teams.
  • Monitor and respond to catastrophic events in real-time quantify potential impacts to in-force exposure and communicate to senior management.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests from the business.
  • Enhance existing reporting capability and develop new reports to share with senior leadership within the Commercial Insurance division.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of relevant work experience in Catastrophe Modeling preferably in Commercial Lines with a focus on portfolio modeling.
  • Experience with Commercial Property Insurance and understanding of complex terms and conditions and the ability to code and model these structures accurately.
  • CAT model operating skills using third part catastrophe modeling software RiskLink experience preferred.
  • Geospatial software experience such as ArcGIS and/or QGIS
  • Ability to manipulate large data sets with strong Excel and SQL skills. Other programming languages such as Python VBA or R would be beneficial.
  • Highly numerate and logical strong mathematical / statistical knowledge is key.
  • Strong communication skills must have the ability to summarize and present highly complex and quantitative analyses and concepts to business stakeholders.
  • Organized with attention to detail. Must be able to manage multiple timelines and deliverables while ensuring the highest quality of work to meet deadlines.
  • Bachelors Degree in a quantitative field of study such as mathematics data science computer science or physical sciences is required.
