Position-Site Manager
Location: Ontario
The Site Manager Mine Operations is a key member of the Operations team working closely with other departments to deliver safe efficient and responsible ore and waste extraction from the open pit mine. This role leads a large multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for implementing safe mining practices deploying autonomous haulage and drilling fleets and overseeing all mine production activities including planning scheduling budgeting and continuous improvement.
Role Details
- Build recruit and lead a high-performing diverse Mine Operations team.
- Set clear objectives provide training and foster an inclusive high-performance culture.
- Ensure resources equipment and systems are in place to achieve production and cost targets.
- Oversee mine production programs and collaborate with engineering maintenance and supervisory teams to deliver on business plans.
- Develop and use production reporting systems to monitor safety ore grade costs and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with mining legislation health & safety and environmental standards.
- Establish and monitor budgets and production targets addressing issues as they arise.
- Promote continuous improvement and implement new methods to increase efficiency reduce costs and improve safety and environmental performance.
- Provide strategic input on mid- to long-term operations and project development.
- Lead the deployment of autonomous systems (AHS ADS communications infrastructure production systems) including recruitment safe work procedures and productivity ramp-up.
- Work with internal teams vendors and regulators to ensure safe and effective autonomous operations.
Job Qualifications
- College diploma or university degree in mining geology commerce or a related field.
- Minimum 15 years open-pit mining experience.
- Strong knowledge of open-pit mining methods automated equipment and production reporting systems.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable mining legislation and regulations.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to build relationships resolve conflict and hold teams accountable.
- Experience engaging with internal stakeholders external partners and Indigenous communities; understanding of Indigenous issues related to the mining sector.
