Telecom Field Engineer Baseband Installation & Integration
We are seeking experienced Telecom Field Engineers to support projects involving material handling baseband installation integration and site closeout activities. The role includes equipment delivery installation testing and documentation to ensure high-quality network deployments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with Gen3 to Gen4 carrier migrations.
- Knowledge of RF RSSI PIM and VSWR troubleshooting.
- Certifications: OSHA 10/30 First Aid/CPR Ericsson or T-Mobile training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pick up and deliver telecom materials between warehouses and sites (within 100 miles).
- Inventory and track equipment using asset management tools (e.g. Cats Lite TOR).
- Install de-install and integrate T-Mobile provided Baseband Modules SFPs transport and inter-cabinet connectivity.
- Terminate power fiber alarm and ground cables; perform grounding and cable management.
- Perform configuration and integration using Enhanced Easy (or latest tool).
- Conduct functional and call testing (LTE NR E911 VoLTE throughput alarms).
- Complete quality checklists labeling tagging and documentation.
- Submit closeout packages (photos BOM asset tracking reports) within required timelines.
- Ensure compliance with EH&S and project standards.
- Baseband Module Work
- De-install up to (3) baseband modules including mounting hardware cabling and conduits as directed by T-Mobile.
- Transport and properly dispose of cabling modules and related hardware per EH&S requirements.
- Install up to (1) T-Mobile provided baseband module in an existing cabinet including mounting hardware and SFPs.
- Install transport and inter-cabinet connectivity cables IDL cables (if required) and confirm connectivity.
- Terminate associated power fiber alarm and ground cables.
- Perform grounding tagging labeling and proper cable management.
- Configure and integrate equipment using Enhanced Easy (or latest tools).
- Migrate technologies from up to (3) existing basebands into (2) proposed basebands.
- Support recabling between existing and new basebands.
- Provide up to 1 hour of field troubleshooting support during migrations.
- Testing & Validation
- Conduct call tests (LTE NR VoLTE CSFB/EPFSB throughput) at a minimum of 110 yards from site.
- Perform SRS call testing and at least (1) whitelist E911 call test.
- Execute internal alarm testing and record results in the eNodeB Acceptance Checklist.
- Material Handling & Logistics
- Pick up and return materials between warehouse and site (within 100 miles).
- Inventory all materials using asset tracking systems (e.g. TOR Cats Lite).
- Ensure proper documentation for material movement and return.
- Closeout & Documentation
- Prepare and upload complete Closeout Packages (CoPs) to the project repository within 72 hours.
- Include labeled photos (before/after installation conduits corrected punch items termination points etc.).
- Complete RBS Installation Quality Checklist BOM and asset tracking forms.
- Exclusions (Not in Scope):
- SRS call testing above 6 carriers.
- IXRe/CSR installation and commissioning.
- Sector-by-sector cutovers.
- Continuous multi-day work.
- Live PSAP testing.
- Existing cabinet retrofits software upgrades RF/PIM/VSWR troubleshooting major hardware failure testing or carrier adds.
- 3 years of telecom field experience preferably with Ericsson or T-Mobile projects.
- Strong understanding of baseband installation fiber power and grounding.
- Familiarity with Cats Lite TOR and asset tracking systems.
- Ability to perform call tests troubleshooting and integration activities.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel (up to 100 miles per assignment).
- Ability to lift equipment and work at telecom sites (tower/ground level).
