The agency consists of multiple programs that are created to empower people in Halifax Charlotte and Mecklenburg Counties of Southside Virginia. Through collaborative efforts engaged staff and partnerships Tri-County is able to further our mission to eliminate the violence of poverty through advocacy empowerment and self-sufficiency.
What We Are Looking For:
The Chief Financial Officer provides strategic leadership and oversight of all financial operations for the agency. The CFO is responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting systems compliance with federal and state grant requirements accurate financial reporting and sound fiscal management to support the organizations mission of serving the community. This role works closely with senior leadership the Board of Directors and funding sources to ensure sustainable financial health.
What You Will Do:
Financial Strategy & Leadership
Serve as a strategic partner to the President & CEO and Board in financial planning forecasting and decision-making.
Provide analysis and recommendations to support short-term and long-term goals.
Participate in strategic planning policy development and program evaluation.
Accounting & Reporting
Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger accounts payable/receivable payroll and cash management.
Prepare accurate monthly quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and funder requirements.
Monitor program budgets and ensure timely grant reporting.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with all federal state and local regulations including OMB Uniform Guidance and other grant management requirements.
Lead the preparation of the annual audit and serve as liaison with external auditors.
Develop and maintain strong internal controls and risk management practices.
Budgeting & Grants Management
Direct the annual budget process in collaboration with program directors and senior leadership.
Monitor grant and contract budgets; ensure allowable costs and proper allocation of shared expenses.
Assist program managers with financial aspects of grant proposals.
Treasury & Investments
Manage cash flow banking relationships and investments in line with agency policies.
Oversee financing strategies and capital planning to support agency growth.
Leadership & Staff Development
Supervise mentor and evaluate finance staff.
Foster a culture of accountability collaboration and continuous improvement within the finance department.
What We Are Seeking:
Bachelors degree in accounting Finance Business Administration or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred.
Minimum of 710 years of progressive financial management experience preferably in a non-profit or grant-funded environment.
Strong knowledge of GAAP fund accounting and OMB Uniform Guidance.
Demonstrated experience managing federal state and local grants/contracts.
Proven ability to lead teams develop staff and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Excellent analytical organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency with fund accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with MIP/Abila Sage Intacct or similar systems preferred.
