Summary of Job Duties:

The Assistant Professor of Social Work teaches in both the graduate and undergraduate social work programs advises BSW and MSW students and maintains an active agenda of scholarship and or research which includes social work-based research/training projects and ongoing scholarly publications. Additionally value is placed on participation in community service at the local state and national levels. Grant-funded research is encouraged and supported by the university. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.


Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • MSW from a CSWE-accredited School of Social Work;
  • Doctoral degree in Social Work or a closely related field.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • At least two (2) years of social work practice experience;

  • Prior teaching experience in higher education with the ability to teach across the curriculum;

  • Online teaching experience;

  • LMSW or LCSW (or LCSW eligible if not currently licensed in Arkansas).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach BSW and/or MSW classes each semester;

  • Provide service to the School;

  • Keep course content timely and in line with accreditation standards;

  • Engage in scholarship sufficient to meet requirements for promotion tenure or other advancements as appropriate for the rank;

  • Engage in service at the university community and professional levels sufficient to meet requirements for promotion tenure or other advancements as appropriate for the rank;

  • Respond to inquiries regarding the designated program(s);

  • Monitor student progress through the program(s) and adjust degree plans as necessary;

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer literacy and practical knowledge of current technology;

  • Strong commitment to effective teaching;

  • Ability to teach introductory and advanced-level classes;

  • Knowledge of social work history theory and practice concepts.
