Clarke University is seeking applications for an adjunct faculty position to teach the introductory course Elements of Physics II with a lab (6 contact hours/week) for upper-level science students beginning January 2026. The position requires a masters degree or a doctorate in a related physical science area. Candidates who are ABD will be considered. If hired the instructor will be expected to teach face-to-face on the Clarke University campus in Dubuque IA.
Elements of Physics II is the second half of a two-semester sequence introducing the basic concepts of physics. This course is a lab-enhanced algebra-based introduction to fluids/pressure waves/sound thermodynamics basics of electricity and magnetism and their applications and a brief introduction to atomic structure and quantum mechanics. This course is offered by the chemistry program and serves as a required service course for the biology chemistry and physical therapy programs.
