Description:

Position Purpose

At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Main PACU provides post-operative care for patients recovering from complex surgeries performed in the Main OR of a Level 1 Trauma Center.

What You Will Do

  • Provide high-acuity care for patients recovering from trauma cardiovascular neurological and other critical surgeries.

  • Manage Phase 1 and 2 recovery ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia stabilization and transfer readiness.

  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists surgeons and care teams to deliver advanced interventions and uphold perioperative standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associates degree in Nursing required

  • Valid RN license in Connecticut

Preferred:

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing

  • The ideal candidate will have one or more years of PACU experience supporting inpatient surgical recovery

  • Candidates with Emergency Room or ICU nurses with 2 years of experience may be considered if they demonstrate expertise in ICU-level ventilated patient care critical drips (e.g. vasopressors sedatives) and strong assessment skills. Note: Training is not available for candidates without this expertise

  • BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC)

  • ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire)

  • Proficiency in ASPAN standards and guidelines

Position Highlights and Benefits

  • Full-Time 36 hours/week Evening Shift

  • Three 12-hour shifts every 3rd weekend

  • Variable start times: 9:00 am 10:00 am or 11:00 am

  • On-call requirements are based on unit needs. On-call may be required to support off shifts such as Nights.
