Position Purpose
At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Main PACU provides post-operative care for patients recovering from complex surgeries performed in the Main OR of a Level 1 Trauma Center.
What You Will Do
Provide high-acuity care for patients recovering from trauma cardiovascular neurological and other critical surgeries.
Manage Phase 1 and 2 recovery ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia stabilization and transfer readiness.
Collaborate with anesthesiologists surgeons and care teams to deliver advanced interventions and uphold perioperative standards.
Required:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associates degree in Nursing required
Valid RN license in Connecticut
Preferred:
Bachelors degree in Nursing
The ideal candidate will have one or more years of PACU experience supporting inpatient surgical recovery
Candidates with Emergency Room or ICU nurses with 2 years of experience may be considered if they demonstrate expertise in ICU-level ventilated patient care critical drips (e.g. vasopressors sedatives) and strong assessment skills. Note: Training is not available for candidates without this expertise
BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC)
ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire)
Proficiency in ASPAN standards and guidelines
Position Highlights and Benefits
Full-Time 36 hours/week Evening Shift
Three 12-hour shifts every 3rd weekend
Variable start times: 9:00 am 10:00 am or 11:00 am
On-call requirements are based on unit needs. On-call may be required to support off shifts such as Nights.
