Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Torontos subway system to get people where they need to go better faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

The GO Expansion program has the objective of building an enhanced commuter rail network to meet the corporate mandate and business objectives while adhering to Metrolinxs highest standards for safety efficiency and legal/regulatory/policy compliance while delivering excellent customer experience. The Senior Manager will be responsible for specific elements of infrastructure required to support the capital build of the GO Expansion program.
What will I be doing
- Develops project strategies while providing overall administrative and technical leadership and oversight to the Railway Corridor expansion activities to ensure coordination of efforts and successful completion.
- Plans sets objectives and controls Due Diligence and Utility Relocation/Protection activities of the project in conjunction with the design and construction teams.
- Leads a Project Management team to deliver collaboratively on activities for GO Expansion by facilitating the development of plans schedules and budget documents to ensure optimal coordination of projects throughout the network; reviews consultant proposals and develops recommendations for proposed projects consistent with strategic plan and business objectives.
- Manage all aspects related to internal and external stakeholders as the project moves through its life cycle. Ensuring review timelines comments and integration of these comments are met and agreed.
- This leader will be required to support the development/acquisition of any agreements and property requirements associated with the program as it relates to the work being undertaken.
- This role will integrate of all aspects of utilities management and execution of Due Diligence supporting the design and execution of the work.
- Manages critical paths/milestones by monitoring mechanisms for projects (e.g. budget schedule scope quality); regularly reports to Director on project status.
- Develops and manages the budget related to works associated with the Due Diligence and Utilities.
- Promotes a safe and healthy work environment; ensures project teams contractors and trades comply with health safety and environmental standards that meet or exceed legislated requirements.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Completion of a degree in Applied Science Engineering or a related discipline or a combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent
- Demonstrated progressive experience providing comprehensive engineering and project management services associated with the planning design and construction of transit facilities station infrastructure and related works. Previous experience includes leading a team of technical professionals
- Project management principles and practices including budget and schedule controls to lead and direct cross functional teams and consultants engaged in simultaneous projects (e.g. development project progress related staff and project resources) and monitor project activities for adherence to timelines budgets and project performance objectives
- Theories principles and practices of civil and architectural design and construction; skill and proficiency in broad phases of engineering application
