Watson Candidate Assistant is here to answer questions about working at Dallas ISD.The Supervisor Trainee plays an important role in meeting the nutritional needs of district students and staff by preparing and serving healthy meals during the school year. This non-tenured position provides on-the-job training for advancement in becoming a Cafeteria Supervisor with the Food Services Department. Tenured status is obtained by 1) successfully completing the training program 2) taking and passing the Supervisor Trainee exam and 3) successfully graduating.
- Must complete 12 weeks of classroom instruction coursework and school rotation training
- Attend Supervisor meetings demonstrate regular attendanceand punctuality
- Knowledge of meal production planning and scheduling
- Knowledge of Dallas ISD Federal and State Laws Rules and Regulations related to food services and quantity food preparation and food merchandising
- Knowledge of nutrition sanitation operation regulations and requirements and use and care of institutional equipment and utensils
- Knowledge of technology procedures used in ordering receiving storing and inventorying food and supplies
- Knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations pertaining to food establishments including sanitation and maintenance regulations
- In case of emergencies mustassume responsibility for the efficient operation of the school kitchen and may be required to replace absent Cafeteria Supervisor on either a short or long term basis
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
- All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification as appropriate
Selected individuals for Dallas Independent School District positions will be placed according to compensation guidelines. A campus-based employee may not assume a new position for which he/she was selected based upon the posting process until the end of the current semester unless approved by the chief officer Human Capital Management.

Accredited Senior High School Diploma or valid equivalent (USA equivalency)
- One year recent food service experience preferred
- Valid Driver License at time of hire and throughout employment
- Personal vehicle at time of hire and through outemployment for use on the job
- Must possesbasic math skills; addition subtractionmultiplication percentageand decimals
- Must pass ServSafe with a 75 or higher. Will receive Certification through the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation
- Must be able to travel between work locations on a daily basis if needed
- Obtain Sanitation Certification from the City of Dallas
- Ability to read with understanding give simple verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate in English by speaking reading and writing Spanish is a plus
- Ability to use technology such as Newton Edison Outlook and FileMaker
- Principles and practices of supervision and training
