The Smidt Heart Institute is proud to feature a highly respected team of specialists dedicated to advancing cardiovascular care for children. Our Institute encompasses 16 centers and programs passionate about diagnosing and treating a wide range of heart and vascular conditions in patients from infancy through adolescence. We combine compassionate care with cutting-edge research offering young patients access to innovative treatments.

As part of our team you will have the opportunity to collaborate with our esteemed faculty and physicians. Together we provide comprehensive expertise across various specialties including congenital heart disease cardiomyopathy arrhythmias and adolescent heart health.

Summary of Essential Duties:

As a Clinical Nurse II you will:

  • Perform a variety of direct patient care activities tailored to the unique needs of our pediatric population.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments triage concerns and provide vital clinical education on pre-operative procedures and disease management.
  • Manage anticoagulation therapy and coordinate care within our busy ambulatory cardiac clinic serving over 20 providers daily.
  • Acquire prior authorizations as needed.
  • Triage phone inquiries from patients pharmacies and other healthcare providers.
  • Assess the ability of pediatric and adolescent patients to understand instructions and ensure safety measures are implemented appropriately.



Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education:

  • - Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • - BSN is highly preferred.

License/Certification:

  • - Current unrestricted California RN license required.
  • - ACLS and PALS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • Specialty certification or (willing to obtain one within a year from start date for external hires)

Experience:

  • - A minimum of 3 years of acute care nursing experience is required.
  • - Experience in a pediatric specialty area (procedure center ambulatory clinic and/or cardiology)
  • - Excellent IV skills are a must.
