As a Hydro District BSA (Biological Science Assistant) in Roseburg Oregon you will work with the Departments Hydropower Program West Regions Umpqua Watershed District; PacifiCorp and North Umpqua Settlement Agreement (NUSA) stakeholders on implementation of post license measures and the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to waive fish passage between PacifiCorp and the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission. Duties include:

  • Provide coordination during implementation of mitigation projects and monitoring

  • Evaluate the performance of mitigation projects and monitoring studies

  • Monitor short-term and long-term fish population response to mitigation measures

  • Maintain the fish counting facility at Winchester Dam and record count and classify (species origin size run life history) all fish that migrate upstream beyond the dam.

  • Controls the water flows through the ladder to provide optimum fish passage and optimum conditions for trapping brood stock to meet hatchery production needs
