In this position

This position will work closely with the Technical Expert and Applications Supervisor to lead/support the global thermal systems teams in A/C Compressor (Belt Driven and Electric) development. The Compressor is a large contributor to the cost of quality within the company. This position will optimize Compressor designs and will interface with Refrigerant Controls and Vehicle Attribute teams within Thermal Systems



Responsibilities

What youll do

  • Expertise in Compressor designs to deliver overall vehicle attributes durability and reliability.
  • Support global applications teams with package DV/PV sign off.
  • Work closely with Technical Expert for compressor development with Full Service Suppliers.
  • Assist Technical Expert with creation and maintenance of the Core Engineering Documents (FMA Documents Requirements and Test Procedures etc.)
  • Support Technical Design Reviews for Compressor and interaction with subsystems - Refrigerant NVH Controls CAE and FEAD teams.
  • Support Compressor Tech Club alongside Technical Expert.
  • Responsible for resolving quality issues.
  • Review initial circuits designs before EMC Worst-case circuit analysis & High voltage integration
  • Analyze and support software reviews with Cybersecurity OTA Network Communication (LIN & CAN) teams
  • Assist Technical Expert for Compressor strategy papers.
  • Lead technical assessment of supplier designs and provide recommendation for sourcing.
  • Provide technical support for cost reduction ideas.


Qualifications

Youll have

  • 5 years of experience in Compressor designs and development.
  • Extensive knowledge of Compressor architectures and designs.
  • Master of Engineering (electrical mechanical controls systems etc.) preferred.
  • Demonstrated systems engineering approach to vehicle refrigerant systems.
  • Proven history of evaluating choices and directing a team based on technical ideals balanced with industrialization realities.
  • Key:
    • Ability to lead and align collections of people that do not directly report to this position.
    • Ability to institutionalize the key factors of thermal systems success and lessons learned through documentation (design rules requirements technical design guides etc.) and to teach associated learning sessions.
    • Ability to form an opinion communicate it effectively at all levels and drive the company in a winning direction.
    • Ability to speak with confidence and authority but is humble and collaborative in leading a technical review and debate.

This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
