Job Summary/Description:
WTVG 13abc is seeking a creative Digital Anchor/Producer to assist in bringing local news to Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan online and on social media. This position is a combination of digital producing and presentation of news on our streaming and social media platforms. The position includes but is not limited to: writing stories on and 13abc social media platforms anchoring streaming presentations on our OTT platform and assisting in the development planning and execution of digital strategies designed to increase page views and engagement under the supervision of the Digital Content Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Generate gather and provide news and information in the most accurate appealing timely and creative way.
* Daily presentation of news and information on WTVG streaming platforms.
* Updating the stations website and social media with news stories throughout the day.
* Maintaining a high quality of content with accurate error-free reporting.
* Working with Digital Content Manager and other Digital Content Producers to craft and maintain a station voice across platforms.
* Assisting with the creation and implementation of digital strategies and projects that may span multiple weeks or months.
* Creation of digital assets including video photo galleries live video streams and other multimedia to enhance stories.
Qualifications/Requirements:
* A proven record of success in the production and distribution of local news
* Bachelors degree in journalism communication or other media-related field OR equivalent job experience in journalism
* Previous digital content experience AND/OR broadcast reporting
* Strong writing skills with knowledge of AP Style and excellent news judgement
* Ability to work under pressure as breaking news situations require
* Familiarity with ENPS and automated technology is helpful.
* Knowledge of social media best practices on platforms including Facebook Twitter and Instagram and an ability to manage multiple platforms at once.
* Knowledge of and experience with Content Management Systems (CMS); HTML knowledge a plus
* Desire to try new things and learn new technology on the job.
* Familiarity with live streaming systems and video editing is a plus.
* Ability to utilize multimedia digital assets to maximize how news is covered and distributed
* A passion for production and storytelling combined with an unwavering commitment to journalistic ethics and standards
