Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

What would you do as a Therapist II- School-Based Outpatient Therapy

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board in partnership with Hampton City Schools is thrilled to introduce an innovative School-Based Outpatient Therapy program. As a Licensed Therapist (LPC or LCSW) you will be instrumental in extending vital mental health services within schools collaborating closely with educational personnel to address the needs of students facing mental health challenges and co-occurring substance-related disorders. This role involves managing a diverse caseload conducting assessment evaluations and delivering tailored therapy through individual group and family sessions. You will create and implement personalized behavioral treatment plans while engaging with families to provide education and counseling as needed.

Your expertise in crisis intervention diagnostic assessment and therapeutic techniques will directly impact the progress of students in treatment. Additionally you will provide clinical supervision to unlicensed therapists or graduate student interns enriching their professional growth. What you need to be successful

To excel in the role of School-Based Licensed Therapist (LPC or LCSW) at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board candidates must possess a robust skill set and relevant qualifications. A minimum of two years of post-graduate clinical experience in therapeutic counseling crisis intervention and case management is essential. Expertise in developing individualized behaviorally specific and time-oriented treatment plans is crucial alongside a thorough understanding of various mental health diagnoses and the ability to implement effective intervention strategies. Familiarity with community services and resources will enhance your capability to support clients effectively. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are paramount for building rapport with students and families as well as for collaborating with school personnel.

Additionally proficiency in maintaining accurate clinical records and a comprehensive understanding of crisis intervention principles and Virginias client management guidelines are vital. Candidates must also be eligible or approved for MCO credentialing ensuring they meet the necessary professional standards for delivering exceptional care.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP) with 2 years of post-graduate clinical experience including therapeutic counseling crisis intervention and case management functions.
  • Must be eligible or approved for MCO credentialing
