Work Pattern

  • Week 1: MondayWednesday 4:30pm 10:00pm
  • Week 2: ThursdayFriday 4:30pm 10:00pm
  • Hours may vary so flexibility across the roster is essential.

We are now inviting applications for a Student General Operative to join our Maintenance Department. This role will play a key part in supporting the hospitals waste management service ensuring safe compliant and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect clinical and domestic waste from wards and departments preparing for external collection.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation relevant to the role.
  • Carry and respond to an internal pager while on-site.
  • Participate in training programmes (internal and external).
  • Be available to work outside normal hours at short notice when required.

Occasional Duties:

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Maintenance Department.
  • Provide assistance with Laundry and Catering portering as needed.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
  • Flexible proactive and reliable with a strong work ethic.
  • Good initiative and ability to adapt to varied tasks.
  • Previous experience in a facilities or maintenance role ideally within healthcare (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong interpersonal teamwork and organisational skills.
  • Must be eligible to work in the EU and available to work up to 30 hours to cover sick leave and annual leave from time to time.
