Job Summary

The Performance Improvement Manager facilitates improvement initiatives across Keck Medical Center of USC to sustainably improve the performance of departments and processes in the domains of people & collaboration quality outcomes safety patient satisfaction operational effectiveness resource management. finance and growth. The manager facilitates the assessment and diagnosis of problems architects data analytics facilitates leads and manages structured improvement initiatives from large scale transformational projects to focused improvement events. This position may also develop dashboards as needed. The manager also acts as a coach for his/her/their team and for any managers they interact with to help them establish mechanisms to sustain performance after the completion of projects.

The Manager supports the development of management mechanisms and systems and also participates actively in training to build Lean and other performance improvement capabilities widely in the organization. The manager has deep experience in the application of Lean and other systems to drive improvement across the medical enterprise.

The scope of activities for the Manager include: creating collaborative customer relationships implementing lean design while developing business solutions with administrative and clinical stakeholders managing performance improvement projects in the organization and analyzing data obtained from numerous information systems and employ the judgment necessary to determine the accuracy and applicability of the conclusions.

Minimum Education:
Bachelors Degree
Masters Degree preferred (Health Administration Business Administration Public Health or related fields)

Minimum Experience/Knowledge:
5 years / 8 preferred
Minimum
Experience leading Lean process improvement in an hospital for at least 5 years with proven trtack record of sustainable results
Proficient PC skills. Working knowledge of databases spreadsheets word processing and statistical software programs. Knowledge of business (operational clinical and financial) statistics and data analyses techniques. Ability to manage and analyze data. Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.

Preferred
At least one year experience leading Lean in an Academic Medical Center Lean certification from a reputable source (University of Michigan ThedaCare Johns Hopkins Denver Health etc.) Extensive experience as a coach and with improvement projects in a wide variety of clinical settings

The annual base salary range for this position is $95680.00 - $158230.00. When extending an offer of employment the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position the candidates work experience education/training key skills internal peer equity federal state and local laws contractual stipulations grant funding as well as external market and organizational considerations.
