Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Network Engineer to design implement and maintain robust network infrastructure across Sypher Ventures global operations. Reporting to the IT Director and collaborating with the Chief of Staff and Founders Office this role ensures secure scalable and high-performance networks to support our portfolio organizations and operational hubs. Based in Las VegasNV the position offers hybrid work flexibility with occasional travel to Malta and Melbourne to support our global presence.
Tasks
- Network Design & Implementation: Architect deploy and optimize network infrastructure (LAN WAN VPN cloud networks) to support Syphers operations and portfolio companies in tech space and philanthropy.
- Network Maintenance: Monitor and maintain network performance ensuring 99.9% uptime troubleshooting issues and implementing upgrades to meet evolving demands.
- Cybersecurity: Collaborate with the IT Director to enforce security protocols (e.g. firewalls intrusion detection systems) and ensure compliance with standards like NIST and ISO 27001.
- Cross-Hub Connectivity: Ensure seamless network integration across Sliema Las Vegas and Melbourne hubs supporting tools like Google Workspace Asana and enterprise systems for teams like the Head of US Operations and the Assistant - Founders Office.
- Vendor Management: Liaise with ISPs hardware vendors and service providers to procure equipment and services optimizing cost and performance.
- Support & Training: Provide technical support to staff and train teams on network-related tools and best practices.
- Innovation: Research and implement emerging technologies (e.g. SD-WAN zero-trust architecture) to enhance network efficiency and align with Syphers mission.
Requirements
- Experience: 4 years as a Network Engineer or similar role ideally in a tech-driven or multi-site organization. Experience in family offices or high-growth environments is a plus.
- Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field; certifications like CCNA CCNP or CompTIA Network preferred.
- Skills:
- Expertise in network protocols (TCP/IP BGP OSPF) routing switching and firewall management (e.g. Cisco Palo Alto).
- Proficiency with cloud networking (e.g. AWS Azure) and tools like Wireshark SolarWinds or Cisco Packet Tracer.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with non-technical teams (e.g. Founders Office philanthropy staff).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Attributes: Proactive detail-oriented and aligned with Syphers values of Innovation Collaboration Impact and Integrity. Comfortable with occasional travel and flexible hours to support global operations.
- Citizenship Requirement: Must be a US Citizen or hold a Green Card due to the roles focus on US-based operations and potential involvement in sensitive projects.
