SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Exceptional Student Services Department seeks a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join our special education team. This position will begin with direct stabilization and intensive support for one student with significant behavioral needs with the opportunity to expand into working with additional students and coaching staff to strengthen behavioral practices across the district.
Responsibilities
- Meeting with families teachers special services providers and others involved in the students case to discuss the students needs and recommend ways to address behavioral issues
- Observing the behavior of each student identified as needing BCBA support
- Conduct FBAs and develop BIPs
- Formulate an appropriate plan to address problem behaviors that is sensitive to students cognitive social emotional and sensory needs
- Administer plan and tailor interventions as needed
- Model and Train staff in application of behavior plan
- Work directly with student/s needing support
- Operate within time financial and other resource constraints
- Remain abreast of changes in research on evidence-based practices
- Advocate for the inclusion of individuals with disabilities
Requirements and skills
- Must possess or be willing to possess aMasters Degree and BCBA Certification
- Proven work experience as a BCBA or similar role
- Knowledge of appropriate referral procedures
- Excellent verbal and report writing skills
- Calm empathic and patient nature
- The ability to remain composed and adherent to best practices even when under duress
- Relevant training and/or certifications as a BCBA

SPECIFIC SKILLS RECOMMENDED:
- Knowledge of progress monitoring tools and techniques
- Demonstrated organizational skills

- Expertise in functional behavior assessment (FBA) and behavior intervention plan (BIP) development
- Skilled in de-escalation and crisis intervention strategies
- Ability to model and coach staff in evidence-based behavioral practices
- Capacity to build positive relationships with adolescents including those with significant behavioral challenges
- Flexibility and resilience when supporting students with high-intensity needs
