Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Underwriting Assistant II - A&H to join our team. This position will play a critical role in supporting the underwriting team in managing new and existing business across the North America Accident & Health portfolio. This critical role within Everests Global Operations department will be instrumental in helping us profitably and efficiently grow our business. This role is based in Warren NJ working a hybrid schedule of 3 days a week in the office 2 days remote.
Responsibilities can include but not limited to:
Review and analyze incoming transactions and related information for completeness accuracy and quality.
Understanding of policy lifecycle rating new business submissions and mid-term endorsement processing including policy construction and assembly in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintain all correspondence & processing activity in alignment with defined folder structures and naming conventions.
Regularly reviews and adheres to department processing guidelines and procedures to ensure accuracy including recommended changes/enhancements.
Manage underwriting relationships with timely responses relative to service inquiries.
Participate in peer review and quality control for team(s) as needed.
Participate in projects across the organization as needed.
Knowledge Skills & Competencies:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Very strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize competing demands and requests to complete work within required time constraints with a high volume of work.
Demonstrate strong analytical skills and mathematical aptitude.
Proficient knowledge of underwriting principles product specific coverage policy forms pricing tools regulatory compliance and insurance systems.
Proficiency in using online reference manuals and multiple systems.
The ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple deadlines with ease.
Self-starter that is energized by independent learning and research.
Strong comfort level with developing rapport with business partners underwriters agents and co-workers by phone email or in person.
Demonstrate continuous improvement mindset ability to independently solution.
Qualifications Education & Experience:
Proficient in MS Office with exceptional skills in Microsoft Excel.
3 years in insurance preferably in an Underwriting Assistant role and/or in the Accident & Health business.
Bachelors degree preferred or relevant work experience.
Experience in insurance operations or related fields preferred.
The base salary range for this position is $65000 - $75000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education experience qualifications and work location.
