POSITION DESCRIPTION

The main duties include but are not limited to:

Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields and use other technical resources within the company to resolve complex problems

Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning

Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional areas) of technical expertise.

Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise

Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world

Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers. Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them

Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems. Prepare plans including schedules budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management

Develop schedules monitor progress monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed. Include research development testing quality assurance requirements

Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers colleagues managers and oversight groups

Prepare reports for external publication.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Ph.D. and about 10 years experience

MS degree and 12 years experience

OR A BS degree and approximately 15 years experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience with the use and implementation of 10 CFR 830 DOE O 413.3 DOE O 420.1 DOE S Candidate must demonstrate proficiency in developing and providing safety basis inputs to facility/project schedules while meeting deadlines and budgetsTDsand related directives and standards is required

Candidate must demonstrate proficiency in developing and providing safety basis inputs to facility/project schedules while meeting deadlines and budgets

Candidate must perform work safely and be proficient in performing Nuclear Safety Program assessments

Considered an internal expert in area of expertise

Contributes to advancing knowledge in field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external pubs. and prof. society presentations

Ability to work in a diverse work environment

Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening which includes a background check and drug screening in accordance with Federal requirements (details below)

Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience on DOE sites and programs

Fifteen years of relevant experience in developing reviewing and maintaining safety basis documents and safety basis support documents is preferred

Demonstrated previous SRS nuclear safety engineering experience is preferred

Demonstrated leadership in preparing planning developing and implementing safety basis and support documents is preferred.
